Tailored Lessons
How it Works
You are unique, so I’ll have some questions and activities to help us target your goals, priority skills, and preferences. You always are in charge of your learning. We’ll make a clear plan together that we’ll review regularly and adjust as needed.
Lessons are full of images and engaging content to keep things interesting and relevant. Whether you’re completing a homework assignment, sharpening your listening comprehension, or crafting a stand-out college entrance essay, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll gain skill and confidence.
The time you book includes my preparation and follow-up. Are you writing an essay about a novel? I’ll read or re-read the novel and explore relevant analysis (literary criticism). Are you preparing for a job interview? I’ll research current questions and interview processes in your field.
Over the years, I’ve developed a quick-retrieval system to pull activities on-the-fly. This allows us to begin with a tailored lesson flexible enough to deepen practice or alter course.
Group Lessons and Classes
Groups can book up to six students for topic study or full course work. This is great for homeschoolers! The hourly cost is the same. Split the cost and enjoy the fun and powerful gains of small-group interaction.
Group lessons can be especially helpful for homeschool cooperatives seeking niche coursework for students’ special interests: graphic novel development, flash fiction, or poetic forms, for example.
Test Preparation
I keep my training up-to-the minute and continually review the content of test preparation programs. The number of Advanced Placement (AP) and SAT/ACT preparation materials can be overwhelming. I’m happy to discuss options best suited to your needs and to serve as a guide so you stay on track and make the most efficient use of your precious study hours.
Book as you go or schedule multiple sessions ahead, whichever works best for you. I look forward to starting with our free consultation and lesson!
Conversation Practice
Put your skills to use in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. I’ll have topics and games ready, but often these chats take on a life of their own, like all good conversation. This is a great way to progress quickly because you will find yourself using your skills in new ways.
These sessions are great for second language and social communication development.
Conversation practice is a powerful tool but takes far less preparation, so the price is considerably lower than content lessons. Still, I can pull activities as needed to deepen your practice.
Sessions are booked in 30 minute slots, and you are free to book multiple sessions. Groups up to six are welcome for the same low price. Please note that these session types are limited.
Literacy Fast Track
Turn “I can’t” into “I did!”
I offer two FREE sessions per week for reading/writing assistance. Please reach out. Language can be challenging, and we all have skills to improve. You CAN do this.
Also check your local library for free reading lessons and writing support.
